Microsoft Just Retired PL-600 and PL-200. Here's What That Actually Signals
Microsoft quietly retired PL-200, PL-600, PL-500, and several Dynamics 365 tracks - replacing them with AI-first roles like AB-100 and AB-410. Here's why that's not just a routine cert refresh
Microsoft just quietly did something big.
They’re retiring a bunch of Power Platform and Dynamics 365 certifications.
And no, this isn’t just a routine update.
Certs like:
• PL-200
• PL-600 (I know. Even this one 😅)
• PL-500
• multiple Dynamics 365 tracks
are being phased out.
And what’s replacing them?
AI-first roles.
• AB-100 (Agentic AI Architect)
• AB-410 (Intelligent Apps Builder)
• AI-driven Dynamics roles
On paper, it looks like a normal certification refresh.
But it’s not.
The underlying shift is this:
We’re moving from building systems to designing systems that can think, assist, and act inside real operations.
Even Power Platform is starting to reflect that:
• Copilot-first development
• agent-based workflows
• AI embedded into everyday processes
This doesn’t mean the retiring certifications are invalid.
They still hold value.
It just shows how fast things are moving.
Microsoft (and the Power Platform space in general) is reacting to the pace of change brought by AI.
So this isn’t really about certifications.
It’s about how roles are changing.
The people who used to configure apps.. are now expected to design outcomes.
That’s a different skillset entirely.
